Well, I just glanced at the NY Times to find that another one of my writerly heroes just killed himself. If you look on your syllabus, you'll see we're slated to read a story of his, "Forever Overhead," in a couple of weeks. I don't like to toss the "g" word around lightly, but this guy was a bona fide genius.
