Robin Toasted the Bagel

“Robin toasted the bagel,” Robert said.
“Do you expect me to believe that?” Alicia whined.
“I promise I didn’t do it!”
“Why are you lying to me? I know YOU were the one who toasted the bagel for Sally!”
“No, I didn’t!”
“Promise?”
“Umm… well…”
“Wrong answer!”
“Okay,” he said sheepishly, “I DID toast the bagel for her…”
“I knew it!! You lied to me!!”
“I…I’m sorry…”
“You’re sorry? I can’t believe you would toast a bagel for another woman! Why did you lie to me? You’ve never toast me a bagel! What if I wanted a bagel? Don’t you care about my feelings?”
“Well, I thought you would get mad. I only toasted the bagel for her because she asked me to. I promise I will never toast another woman’s bagel again. I will only toast your bagels for the rest of my life. I promise…”
“Aww… thanks. I guess I’ll forgive you this time.”
“Okay… now let me go toast you a bagel.”
“No thanks. I’m not hungry.”
“But I thought you wanted me to toast you a bagel.”
“No, I just wanted you to WANT to toast me a bagel.”
